Accelerating and mainstreaming transformative NATure-bAsed solutions to enhance resiLIEnce to climate change for diverse bio-geographical European regions.

To ensure ecosystem survival, adapting to climate change is essential. The NATALIE project responds to both present and future climate risks by applying Nature-based Solutions (NbS). This five-year initiative unites 43 partners across Europe and establishes 8 demonstration sites, along with 5 replication sites, to study the effectiveness of these solutions.

  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to deploy Nature-based Solutions (NbS) across Europe, ensuring they are resilient to climate change and promote ecosystem well-being.
  • Conduct replication studies based on the findings from tests performed at the observation sites.
  • Create tools to evaluate the impacts of these solutions, including their socio-economic effects.
  • Conduct a range of tests to design suitable financing tools.

NATALIE will create a set of 25 innovative, actionable solutions, covering areas such as financing and public engagement, technical advancements, modeling, IT solutions, and governance and policy recommendations at both EU and regional levels. The project offers a comprehensive, scientifically validated framework to support European and local policies focused on climate change resilience.

Our tasks and responsibilities

Our task is to design a constructed wetland system, improve the existing models to enhance its efficiency and environmental impact, and identify an ideal location for a case study. In collaboration with local stakeholders, we will support the implementation of the wetland, ensuring it is tailored to the specific needs of the region. Additionally, we will develop assessment tools to monitor its performance, provide technical guidance throughout the process, and create a comprehensive framework for replicating the solution in other regions. Engaging local communities and securing funding opportunities will also be key to the project’s long-term success and scalability.
